Procedures

Purpose: The purpose of the Neck Lift is to improve the contour of the neck and create a more attractive angular neckline. This is accomplished by removing the fatty accumulation under the neck skin and tightening the deeper muscle layer.  The neck lift is a tightening procedure that is usually if not always done in conjunction with a Facelift.  The neck is contoured, the muscles are tightened and any excess skin is removed through hidden hairline incisions.  Liposuction can also be used.

Recovery Time: If liposuction is used, the recovery is easier and shorter. There may be some swelling and bruising, which resolves in a few days. The garment is worn for one week. You can return to work in a few days. Dr. Day recommends rest and application of cold compresses for 48 hours after surgery, followed by gradual resumption of daily activities. At first, features may be distorted from swelling and facial movements may be somewhat stiff. Bruising may persist for several weeks. Moisturizer may be applied as necessary avoiding suture areas. Camouflage makeup may be used within one week following surgery. Please avoid strenuous activities, alcohol, steam baths and saunas for several weeks. Limit your exposure to the sun for several months. Always use a sunscreen with an SPF of at least 15, or preferably 40 SPF.
